After a classical education he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Rome. He has lived and worked in London for over 30 years and has exhibited in several countries. His work is in private collections in the UK and Europe, the USA and the Middle East. 'Spallone's aesthetic research, which started at the beginning of the 1960's, is set within the context of the experience of abstract painting, against a background of the themes of Futurism and the metaphysical painting of De Chirico, together with American abstract expressionism and, above all, Rothko's concept of the canvas as matrix and receptacle of the vibration of light.'
